The Brazilian Repenique

Alson known under the name: repique, this instrument his used to support the surdos in the samba bateria. It often has a role similaur to the first violin in an orchestra, as it cues entrances and calls. Its size is usually 10 X 10 or 12 X 10 inches, and it is made out in metal.

It has two plastic heads mounted very tightly. It hans from the neck and his played with a stick in the right hand, and bare left hand. Its basic rhythm is very simple since it is one beat long.
