Instruments exhibitions.
To start off this section, we proudly present a few
photographs from the instruments collection of the « Laboratoire
de recherche sur les musiques du monde» (LRMM) from the Université
de
Montréal's Faculty of music. The lab's director, Monique Desroches,
has kindly given us permission to use these photographs that represent
a few samples of a collection of more than 500 instruments from all
over the world.
Founded in 1995, the LRMM his an ethnomusicology learning,
research and outreach center.
It brings together professors, researchers and students interested
in studying in the field of world music, particularly about the
relations between music, identity and aesthetics. The Laboratory
offers :
- an audio and written documentation center specialized
in world music;
- a learning and research program on music traditions;
- an ethnomusicology multimedia station;
- an outreach center, with instruments exhibitions,
conferences and access to the documentation center.
