QUAD

QUAD is the name of a percussion group formed by Johanne Latreille, Jean-François Côté, Michel Viau and Charles Duquette. Four percussionnistes gathered around the same desire: to create a completely unique and original music by allying movement to percussion.

QUAD's performances offer a happy mix of various musical tendencies and styles. Certain pieces are elaborated with objects of everyday life: pipes, keys, the human body, metal barrels, bottles of water. Others are drawn from an uncommon use of orchestra instruments : drums struck with pipes or excessively long sticks, boxes played with hands, etc.. To complete the percussion palette, certain pieces everyday objects to contemporary instruments: «océanophone», vrombe and instrument imitating the sound of wind, used together with marimba, snare drum, gongs, bongos, congas or bells. Whatever the choice of instruments, movement and visual aspects remain intimately connected to the music in the creation of the repertoire. An important place is also given to improvisation. Furthermore, the particular flavour of QUAD's music resides in the variety of its influences: drum corps, contemporary, classical, latin or afro-cuban.

With the quality of its members, the variety of its musical influences, the originality of its music compositions, QUAD introduces a music accessible to all. The desire to bring forth the beauty of the musical gesture results in a " percussive choreography " whose visual impact is striking. QUAD's music (displays energy, force and emotion.

QUAD... a must see and hear !
